Eight hours and counting…
How fervently do I wish they started these games at noon?
And imagine, should the unthinkable happen in Pittsburgh tonight (*knocks on wood*) we’ll all be waiting until Friday for another game. So we can play Games 1 & 2 on back-to-back nights three days after the end of the previous series … but we have to spread the three final (and most nerve-destroying) contests out over seven full days? Really?
Typing is useless at this point and there’s very little to say. I’m mostly just doing it to keep my fingers from rolling things into little cigarette imitations or picking cuticles until they bleed.
The bottom line is this: If the Red Wings can keep the Penguins from dominating the early part of the first period, and get a goal to take the crowd away, I think the Pens self destruct under the pressure much like they did in Game 5. If my nerves are bad right now, theirs must be on a knife-edge.
However, if they come out and get some pressure and it pays off with a goal … it could be a long night and an agonizing 48-hour wait for Game 7.
If it comes to that, I really will hurl something across the newsroom at the television.
Regardless this worked last year, so we’re doing it again:

They needed to be razor sharp in game 6 and the Wings were just slow and dull (exceptions Ozzie and Zetterberg). Where was Hossa’s desperation, Sammy had the biggest defensive lapse of the game/playoffs on the second goal. I bet Ilitch promised the boyz something special if they win it at home this year!
